It is the BASKETBALL Hall of Fame, not the NBA Hall of Fame. Of the four major sports, it is the easiest to get voted-in. Westbrook's triple-double history alone will get him into the Hall.
I don't think he's a true Hall of Famer. Stats are for people who DO NOT watch the games. Russ' career averages would make him considerable for making it in the hall:
Without knowing the player, those career averages would put any player on the fence of making the Hall. So now we look at what additional factors can get them in/out. For Russ:
Pro: All-time leader in triple-doubles (currently 193)
[Oscar Robertson is 2nd with 181, Magic Johnson - 138, LeBron James - 104]
Con: The eye-test. My favorite measure of a player. And no rings.
Russ never cheats you on effort. He can be explosive to the rim. However, he has more bad moments than good. He turns the ball over at the highest rate in the league and his missed shots are consistently the worst of any player on the court. Even LeBron looks worn out by Russ.
